Into the future with new machines

A new 3D AOI and two new 3D SPI from Vi TECHNOLOGY improve Trenz Electronic's production efficiency

Hüllhorst, 2020/10/30. Trenz Electronic GmbH has added a total of three new machines to its existing production lines. The specialist for individual FPGA and SoC modules thus paves the way to a successful future. In the complex process of solder paste inspection (SPI), it is now possible to measure the paste volume with the highest precision in 3D. The Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) is used to detect and report tolerance deviations in production using an image processing techniques.

"With the newly acquired machines, we are increasing efficiency and laying the foundation for further growth," explains Eugen Brose, Technical Director at Trenz Electronic. "They enable easy reproducibility of our various test procedures, which means we can guarantee a faster throughput of our production lines". Using the new equipment also means an improvement in product quality. "The precise 3D recognition of the components and the very good statistical evaluation software are decisive advantages," says Brose.

Conversion with short production stop

As the new equipment was integrated into the existing production lines, a 2-day production stop was unavoidable. "Conversion and installation were complex, but the organizational effort was worth it. Thanks to the perfect integration of the new equipment into our existing machinery, we will be able to supply our customers with improved quality in future," Brose sums up.

Successful cooperation

All machines were purchased from the company Vi TECHNOLOGY. The French manufacturer has been fully owned by the Swedish high-tech company Mycronic AB since 2017. "We have a long-standing partnership with Mycronic. The new machines fit perfectly into our production lines," Brose notes. "The experience and competence as well as the trust in Mycronic's employees are the guarantee for this successful cooperation."

About Trenz Electronic

Trenz Electronic operates as a provider of development services for the electronics industry since 1992. The service includes design-in support as well as turnkey designs which typically covers all steps from product specification, hard- and software design up to prototyping and production. This covers the entire process from product specification, hardware and software development to prototype production and manufacturing. Trenz Electronic is particularly specialized in the design of high-speed data acquisition, high-accuracy measurement and embedded digital signal processing systems based on FPGA and CPU architectures. The portfolio also includes SoM products for the automotive industry and high-end applications. Many products are compatible with some widely used form factors.

Customers benefit from the engineering expertise focused on embedded systems in industrial environments, as well as PC-based process control and measurement systems. The development service is supplemented by FPGA-and MCU-based development boards and tools. In the event that an off-the-shelf FPGA board won’t fit the customer’s requirements, the design can be easily adapted by the comprehensive engineering design service. Trenz Electronic enables customers to take full advantage of FPGA technology in industrial applications to achieve key business objectives.
