RFSoC Chip-Down for LiDAR Detection in Automotive Application

At the customer's request, Trenz Electronic developed and manufactured a custom-designed board that processes LiDAR data in automotive environments. Its primary function is to digitize analog signals from LiDAR sensors and process the resulting digital data. The board is based on an AMD Zynq™ UltraScale+™ RFSoC, to which 8 GByte DDR4 SDRAM are connected.

Two QSPI flash memories connected to the RFSoC, each with 512 MB, are used to configure the RFSoC and are also available for application data. The analog section of the board includes additional analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) for processing low-frequency signals.

Power distribution is handled by high-efficiency switch-mode supplies covering all onboard voltage rails. A dedicated system controller, implemented in an LCMXO3D device, enhances system control and coordination. To support flexible connectivity and control, the board incorporates PCIe, Ethernet, and USB 2.0 interfaces.
